Dubrovnik&Beyond- Island of Korčula Tour

Our trip will take us through Dubrovnik's coastline and picturesque peninsula Pelješac, with a stop in an important historical town Ston, town in which Dubrovnik Republic had established salt production in 14th century. Today Ston is known for its delicious oysters and the old salt ponds where the salt is still produced in the traditional way.

Korčula is an island covered in dense pine forest. It was one of the Greek colonies in the past. Originally it was named Korkyra Melaina, meaning “Black Korčula”. It is Marko Polo’s supposed birthplace. He was one of the first Europeans who introduced Europe to China, but also brought back many different things like spices, fabrics, pasta, oil as energy source, etc. Korčula is a beautiful medieval town surrounded by ruinous city walls and fortresses. Even though the whole island is under Marco Polo's influence, there's much more to it. Interesting architecture of the town, beautiful churches and rich collections of its museums will teach you a lot about its history. On our way back we will have wine tasting at one of the local wineries in Potomje, home of the best Croatian red wine, Dingač.
